This 226 year old etching is by Jean-Jacques De Boissieu and was published in Paris in 1790. It is signed "DB 1790". Jean-Jacques de Boissieu (1736 1810) was a French. Boissieu was born at Lyon. And studied at the École Gratuite de Dessin in his home town, but was mostly self-taught.He began making prints in the period 175864, then went to Italy in the retinue of the ambassador Louis Alexandre, Duc de la Rochefoucauld. D'Enville (17431792); he met Voltaire. This original etching is in very good condition. It is & 15 1/2" x 10 1/2" on a page that is 17" x 13". As usual, it is printed on thin laid paper and attached to a fine cardboard backing.
