The back illustration board which this art is taped to has the signature. The front mat could easily be removed for a higher quality mat as it is not glued down but attached at the top with tape. We presume this was created in the 1970's prior to his work on Sonic the Hedgehog and other works as described below. Greg Martin did not often sign his work so this original artwork is really rare as it does have his signature on the back of the illustration board.Greg Martin (1956 - 2013). Jerry Beck wrote a wonderful article about Greg Martin on Cartoon Research (Along with many pictures of his illustrations).
It can be found by searching for "Cartoon Research Greg Martin". Greg was an accomplished artist who worked for Hanna-Barbera Studios, Walt Disney Feature Animation Studios, Marvel Productions television animation department, Sony Pictures, Sega Natsume, Universal Studios, Capcon, Turner Publishing, Lorimar, MGM, Fox Interactive, Nintendo and others.
