RARE & FINE GEORGIAN ANTIQUE WIGAN PEWTER. ½ PINT MEASURE TANKARD MUG C18TH. The rare baluster measure comes from Wigan and dates to the latter part of the C18th. It has the capacity of ½ pint old English Wine Standard (OEWS). There is a verification mark of a crown to the left hand side of the handle.

Early Wigan measures are very scarce, and even more so with a verification mark. There is a dent to the back of the handle but otherwise the measure is in very good condition. With general wear commensurate with age (see images), and would make a great display piece. Please take a look at my other pewter items for sale.
