AURORA STUDIOS 1913 FINE ART FEMALE NUDE FRAMED ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH, RARE. Photo is double matted and nicely framed in a 3/4" solid brown wood frame that is 17-1/8" x 13-1/8. A beautiful original photograph from an obscure studio.

Based on my research, this is an original silver gelatin photograph on double weight fiber paper measuring approximately 10-1/4 inches by 6 inches. I acquired the image already framed and have left it intact.

The Aurora Studios were an obscure Boston photo studio that produced a portfolio of photographs called the Photographic Figure and Drapery Studies. The portfolio contained 40 half-tone plates depicting nude and partially clothed young women coyly posed, often with props, presumably as an aid for designers and decorators. The company also offered "original photographic prints of the subjects" in the portfolio ordered by number.

The photo offered here is almost certainly from that series. The offerings from Aurora precede and potentially influenced the later work of Albert Arthur Allen, Alfred Cheney Johnston, Alexander Xan Stark and others. I've represented it as best as possible. Please see photos for additional detail.
