Bernhardt Wall Etching of General Foch, WWI Cannon & Planes, Signed, RARE & FINE

  

Up for sale is an outstanding and rare original etching by Bernhardt Wall depicting a killer portrait of the World War I French General Ferdinand Foch from the waist up. This portrait elegantly portrays the general looking into the distance while two bi-planes fly over and a smoking cannon is in the near left middle ground.

Executed on a quality piece of hand laid paper with its full margins measuring a total of 10.25 x 14 inches the plate mark measures 7 x 9.75 inches. Signed "Wall" in the plate (lower left) this is hand signed in pencil "Bernhardt Wall" low right and below written "Marshal Foch" and dated 1918.

The condition of this etching is good overall but their is a toning overall and discoloration to the margins. Their is also one speck of loss to the print in the top right corner on the tail of the airplane. The integrity of the paper is still strong, not brittle and weak and would look great if cleaned.
