The detail and clarity of style of these Stuart Crystal slides has to be seen to be believed, worked entirely by hand by master artisans. A fabulous, genuine 17th century Stuart Crystal slide; beautifully made from solid 18 carat gold. Under its beveled, polished rock crystal lies a superbly woven hair memento topped by a gold wire cypher depicting the initials'CS'. My favourite aspect of this piece is the subtle double layering of the hair display - a highly detailed knotted cross over an even finer striated woven backing panel.

It's a really fabulous detail that not only speaks to the skill and artistry of the hairworker, but adds interest and draws the eye - it gets better the closer you are! It dates from the mid-17th century and is in excellent, stable condition for its age, with solder strengthening to three corners where claws are missing, a nick to the crystal under the top right hand edge and an old repair to one slide arm.
