A very rare work by the well known French miniaturist Marc-Antoine Hervier. Marc-Antoine Hervier was a pupil of David and Aubry, and exhibited at the Salon of Paris from 1810 to 1817. He worked as a painter and miniaturist, and was for some period active in England.

Schidlof writes that, "Hervier was an artist who drew well and who seems to have been influenced by Augustin". Condition: fairly good; trace of oval matting; minimal crack at 6 o'clock.
