Rare 1900s Art Nouveau ADOLF MAYER Germany 900 Silver & Lapis Lazuli Brooch. This stunning piece was hand made around the late 1800s or early 1900s in Frankfurt, Germany by famous jewelry designer Adolf Mayer and features a beautiful organic design typical of the Art Nouveau style. The organic 900 silver base is adorned with a hand carved flower bouquet which carries 4 round lapis lazuli cabochons and one black onyx cabochon in silver beadwork settings. The piece is in excellent condition with some patina according to age which can be easily polished away if desired.
Pin and catch are original and work fine and there is a foldable loop that allows the piece to be worn as a pendant. This antique beauty measures 2 3/8" long x 2 3/8" wide and weighs an impressive 23.6 grams. Stamped "900" for a common Central European silver standard of 90% Silver; also signed "ATM" for Adolf Mayer and engraved "handgetrieben" (hand chased).
