Rare ELIZABETH GARVIN 1990s Industrial Postmodern Sterling BRACELET 48 Grams

  

What a piece of work this Elizabeth Garvin bracelet is! Handcrafted in her New York studio in the 1990's, it comes from a rarely seen, retired collection and boasts all the elements that have made Garvin one of today's celebrated icons of American postmodern design. Here, four links in brushed sterling silver are entirely hand-assembled and consist of hollow "capsules, " joined together by four pairs of extended connectors. The graphic, industrial-style links appear surprisingly airy with their abstract patterns of drilled, circular perforations and oxidized interiors.

While the flat, sleekly curved connectors, riveted to each capsule, allow all the elements to swivel and articulate in fabulous, mechanical fashion. The extraordinary design is completed by a superbly imaginative slide clasp. Daunting in concept and construction, the bracelet nevertheless is imbued with a sublime, minimalist grace, at once classic and contemporary, timeless and timely.
