Amazing Margot De Taxco Egyptian Style brooch/pendant combination piece. This is a Champleve enamel piece, highly sought after design #5242 Egyptian face. The colors are rich, the piece is beautiful and dimensional. The woman is wearing a headdress with feathers and a bird, it is accented with 3 small chains and raised accented dots. The colors are rich yellow, orange, turquoise, aqua, and black. Champlevé enamel is created with indented areas that are carved or cast into the metal and then filled with the enamel. After the enamel has been fired, the object is then filed and polished, leaving the non-indented areas without enamel. The name Champlevé comes from the French word meaning'raised field'. HALLMARKS/SIGNED: Margot De Taxco, Made in Mexico, Sterling, 16 eagle.
