Rare, Pair of Finely Decorated WWI Trench Art Artillery Shells, Verdun 1918. In very nice condition with minor, age-appropriate wear and patina.Souvenir of the Fighting in France. Features a lovely pattern of flowers along with the date of 1918, each one has a different design. One has VERDUN 1918 with a plant and flower on it, fine detail. The other has what appears to be Mia 1918 with a plant on it, also nicely detailed. Both are around 6.5" H x 1.75" W at base.
Weight of each is approx. I believe these are: 3,7 cm Hotchkiss artillery.
48 and 1.18 (1918) - (also the little bomb symbol). Ps = Parc d'Artillerie de Paris (Paris Artillery Park). One top cap has a couple symbols with the number 18.
The other has a couple symbols with the number 17 (hard to read). One of the symbols appears to be an anchor. Both have a solid metal top and empty copper bottom and the caps on top which are just metal. Both non active and none harmful.
