Rare Victorian 9ct Rose Gold Cased Dogs / Hounds & Heart Padlock Brooch

  
VERY RARE and its provenance is England. So unique its the only one of its kind i have ever seen It is a large early Victorian double bar brooch and it has two hounds either end.. With etruscan ball orb Ends and a little heart padlock on a swag of chains. This would have been a gift of love.

Called gold cased or gold back and front in England. The heart padlock would have meant this was a gift of love. Obviously for an animal or dog lover. The hounds faces are beautifully hand carved.

Today they add copper which gives it that deep rose gold hue,, i much prefer the old rose gold color. I would not be surprised if it was a commissioned piece, not hallmarked which was common prior to 1907 but it is gold cased or gold back and front SIZING. The tubular double bar brooch measures 6.5cm or 2 1/2" long and the drop from top to bottom of swag chains is 7cm or 3" or 1 1/8.. The dogs heads are beautidully carved and there are etruscan ball end terminals. It is a large brooch, it has an antique c clasp at the back , the chains are threaded through the dogs mouths and you can adjust them higher or lower.. And she now has a new brooch.

Just under 10 grams in weight. This is over 170 YEARS OLD... And in great condition for its vast age.. I think it would be a museum piece due to its unique style and vast age.

I test all diamonds and stones and gold with electronic testers, but prior to 1907 gold was not required to be hallmarked. All gemstones will test the same whether they are natural or manmade except for diamonds.
