Rare vintage late 1940s button through dress by Berketex. It looks very much like a Norman Hartnell - he designed ready to wear dresses for Berketex between 1942 & 1952. It's a burgundy red colour fine needlecord fabric, which feels soft and drapey like rayon.
Lovely design features include pleats at the shoulder, front pockets with asymmetric placket detail and button cuffs. The smooth round buttons have an indentation to one side adding to the asymmetric detailing. Note at some point the dress has been let out at the waist, one side seam has been let out slightly, the buttons moved and an extra hole put in the belt, see last 2 photos. The only other flaw I can see is a couple of pulls to the corduroy, as shown in the top of the last photo. See measurements in the specifications for exact fit.
