Vintage Robert Gordy Blue Bathers Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts Exhibit Poster. A Louisiana artist, Robert Gordy worked much of his life in New Orleans with exhibits and teaching experiences in many other areas of the United States. He became one of New Orleanss most influential artists. Gordys work is sometimes referred to as abstract or mod-figurative patterned graphic.

He created a distinctive style by borrowing from a wide variety of sources: Cubism, Surrealism, Impressionism, Abstract Expressionism, Art Deco and African tribal art. He is known for his Matisse-like repeat patterning and figurative paintings and abstract studies of human heads. Robert Gordy passed away September 25,1986 at the age of 52.
